The England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the England team for the fourth Test. After 8 years in the team, left arm spinner Liam Dawson has returned.
Dawson will replace the off -spinner Shoaib Bashir, who was injured in the third Test.
Bashir suffered an injury while fielding on a shot of Ravindra Jadeja during the third Test match played at Lord’s. He is out of the remaining two matches of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
Bashir suffered a left -handed injury during the match played at Lord’s.
Lum Dawson returns to Test after 8 years Liam Dawson has returned to the Test team after 8 years. He last played a Test for England in July 2017. The 35 -year -old Dawson has played only 3 Tests, but has performed brilliantly for Hampshire in recent years. He won the Professional Cricketers Association Player of the Year Award in 2023 and 2024.
At the same time, he took 21 wickets in 9 matches in the recent county championship, whose average was 40.04. He also took 11 wickets in 10 matches in the vitality blast.
National Selector Luke Wright said that Liam Dawson has made his place. His performance in the county championship has been excellent and he is continuously playing well for Hampshire.
Liam Dawson last played a Test for England in July 2017.
England team returned in T20 against West Indies Dawson has played all three formats for England. Last month, he made a comeback in T20 against the West Indies, where he took 5 wickets in three matches, which was the highest in the series.
Fracture in Bashir’s finger During the third Test played at Lord’s, Bashir’s left -handed little finger fractured. His finger will be surgery this week. In fact, while bowling Ravindra Jadeja in India’s first innings, Bashir suffered an injury to his finger.
While trying to catch Jadeja’s straight drive, his left hand finger fractured. Then he stayed out of the ground most of the time in the second innings.
