Indian women’s team celebrating with the World Cup trophy.
Indian women’s team has won the Women’s ODI World Cup. The team became champion for the first time in this 52-year-old tournament. In the final match played in Mumbai on Sunday, India’s girls defeated South Africa by 52 runs.
Just as India is a country full of diversity, similarly the Indian women cricketers who became world champions also come from different backgrounds. Some’s parents have made their daughter a cricketer by working as a daily wage labourer, while some’s parents have been in government jobs. Some’s father runs a jewelery shop and some’s family members have been selling vegetables.
