India have won the first match of the 2-Test series against Bangladesh by 280 runs. With this victory, the team has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. The second match will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27.
Chasing 515 runs on the fourth day of the match at the Chepauk Stadium on Sunday, the Indian team bowled out Bangladesh for 234 runs in the second innings. Earlier, Indian captain Rohit Sharma declared the second innings at 287 for 4 and gave Bangladesh a target of 515 runs. Team India scored 376 runs in the first innings. In reply, Bangladesh’s first innings ended at 149 runs.

After winning the first match, India have strengthened their position in the World Test Championship 2023-25 season points table. The team now has 71.67% marks. Along with this, the Bangladesh team (39.19%) is at the sixth position.

Both had shared a partnership of 48 runs then Indian captain Rohit Sharma handed over the ball to home boy Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin took the wicket in the first over. He got Shakib caught by Yashshwi Jaiswal. Shakib returned to the pavilion after scoring 25 runs. Here the team score was 194 runs.
