Muscat: Defending champions India retained the Women’s Junior Asia Hockey Cup by defeating China 3-2 in a penalty shootout here today. After the match was drawn 1-1 in regulation time, the match went to a penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Nidhi played an important role in the penalty shootout. He made a brilliant save of three goals, thanks to which India defeated the three-time champions China. It may be mentioned that India defeated Japan 3-1 in the semi-final while China defeated South Korea 4-1 to reach the final.
