What is the dark history of the Golan Heights?
The Golan Heights is an area occupied by Israel, which was captured from Syria in the 1967 war. Syria then lost the war and could do nothing against Israel. After this, in the year 1981, Israel annexed this region to its country. The entire area is surrounded by a plateau and is strategically important. According to a report, the total population of Golan Heights is 55 thousand, including about 24 thousand Muslims and 31 thousand Jews. Israel has rapidly settled the Jewish population in the region.

Take advantage of the fall of the Bashar government
In neighboring Syria, the government of President Bashar al-Assad fell a week ago. Assad had to flee the country during the rebellion. In such a situation, the rebels will soon come to power and take control of the government. Despite this, the Israeli government is in no mood to take Syria lightly. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Israel has taken this major strategic step. In 2019, then-President Donald Trump announced US support for Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan, but most countries have not recognized the occupation. Syria demanded Israel’s withdrawal, but Israel refused, citing security concerns.
