1. ISRO launched navigation satellite NVS-02: Indian Space Agency ISRO launched NVS-02 satellite from Sriharikota Space Center via GSLV-F15.
Geosinkronous satellite flew from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Center on 29 January at 6:23 am.
- This is ISRO’s 100th launching mission.
- NVS-02 has been installed in geosyinkronous transfer orbit.
- This satellite is part of the navigation system, designed to increase navigation facility like GPS in India.
- This system will cover part from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Gujarat to Arunachal.
- Also, a distance of up to 1500 km from the coastal line will also be covered. This will provide better navigation help for air, sea and road travel.
- Indian Space Research Organization- ISRO (ISRO) was established on 15 August 1969.

2. Nominated for Japan Academy Film Award: ‘Missing Ladies’: The film ‘Lapata Ladies’, directed by Aamir Khan Productions and Kiran Rao, has been selected for the best international category in Japan Academy Film Award 2024.
The winner of the best international film will be announced on 14 March during the Japan Academy Film Awards ceremony.
- Of the 204 international films released in Japan in 2024, ‘Lapat Ladies’ has been selected as one of the top 5 films.
- This includes Kiran Rao’s ‘missing Ladies’ Christopher Nolan’s ‘Openheimer’, ‘Poor Things’ by Yorgos Lantimos, ‘The Zone of Interest’ of Jonathan Glazer and ‘Civil War’ of Alex Garland.
- The missing Ladies film is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindleing Productions.
- The film’s story is prepared by Biplab Goswami. Screenplays and dialogues have been prepared by Desai.
- The film ‘Lapat Ladies’ was released on 1 March 2024 in theaters.
3. Beating the Retreat Ceremony at Vijay Chowk in Delhi: Today, Beating the Retreat Ceremony took place on 29 January at Vijay Chowk in Delhi.
With this, programs lasting 4 days of Republic Day ended.
- President Draupadi Murmu attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
- During this time, the tunes of patriotism were presented by the three armies and the band of CAPF.

4. 8th International Saraswati Festival begins: Today, the 8th International Saraswati Festival started from 29 January at Saraswati Tirtha in Pihowa, Kurukshetra, Haryana.
CM Naib Singh Saini launched the International Saraswati Festival from Adi Badri on 29 January today.
- This festival starting from Adi Badri will conclude in Pihowa.
- This 7 -day festival will run from 29 January to 4 February.
- This seven -day festival will be celebrated on the lines of the Gita Festival.
- Rajasthan has been made a state partner at the festival.
- On 12 February 2016, the then CM Manohar Lal Khattar announced to celebrate the festival internationally in the year 2018 during the Saraswati Festival closing ceremony organized by the Saraswati Heritage Development Board.

5. Alexander Luakshhenko became the President of Belarus for the 7th time: Russia’s associate Alexander Lakashneko has once again been elected President of Belarus on 27 January.
Alexander Lakashnco has been in this post since 1994.
- Lakashnco received 86.8 percent of the votes.
- There were four other candidates against him – Sergei Sirankov (3.21%), Oleg Gydukevich (2.02%), Anna Kanopatsakaya (1.86) and Alexander Khiznayak (1.74%).
- Here every five years the President is selected through direct elections and the candidate who gets more than 50% vote is declared the winner.
- The President’s term in Belarus is 5 years.
- The last election here was held on August 9, 2020, in which Alexander Lakashnco got 80.1 percent votes.
6. Resigned from the Prime Minister of Serbia: Serbia Prime Minister Milos Wuswik resigned from the post on 28 January due to allegations of corruption on himself.
After the ‘Serbian Progressive Party’ won the most votes in the general election, Wuswik became Prime Minister in May 2023.
- In fact, a part of the roof of the railway station collapsed on 1 November in Novi Sad, the second largest city of Serbia, in which fifteen people died.
- After this incident, protests against the government started in the country. Thousands of people came down on the streets and demanded accountability of the incident.
- According to Serbia law, it should be approved by the Parliament of Serbia after the Prime Minister’s resignation.
- The Prime Minister should be elected within 30 days after approval. If this is not the case, general elections can be held.
