According to reports, Starlink will provide users with internet speeds ranging from 25Mbps to 225Mbps. The initial basic plan is expected to offer speeds of around 25Mbps, while the premium or high-end plans will offer speeds of up to 225Mbps. However, no official announcement regarding any plan or speed has been made by the company yet, so at present these figures are approximate.
The Government of India has also clarified that currently Starlink will be allowed to connect only 20 lakh users. This is so that balance is maintained between the existing internet service providers and competition in the market is not affected.
Starlink has received almost all the necessary approvals to start operations in India. Now only a few formalities are left like approval of SATCOM gateway, allocation of spectrum and final approval of operating license.
It is expected that all these processes will be completed by the end of 2025 and Starlink will be officially launched in India by January 2026. Talking about the price, according to reports, for this satellite internet service, users will have to pay a one-time setup charge of Rs 30,000.
After this, monthly plans can start from Rs 3,300, in which the initial speed will be up to 25Mbps. However, no disclosure has been made yet regarding the price of 225Mbps high-speed plan.
In a huge country like India, where providing internet to remote areas is still a challenge, Starlink is a new ray of hope. But the setup charge of Rs 30,000 can become a big hurdle for Indian users. If the company is able to strike the right balance between its prices and service quality, then Starlink can give a new direction to the country’s internet ecosystem in the coming times.
The arrival of Starlink Internet in India is not just a technological development but could be the beginning of a digital revolution. Features like fast speed, satellite network connectivity and remote area coverage take it ahead of traditional broadband services.
