The accused has been identified as Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh, resident of Jainpur Hall, village Kalkh. SI Harpreet Singh of Police Station City said that while patrolling with the police party, he was checking the unpaved road along the Akhara Canal on Raikot Road. Meanwhile, a young man riding a bike was seen coming from the front, who after seeing the police car, turned his bike and started going back. On suspicion of which the police immediately caught the accused.

During this time, when the police searched the accused, nothing was recovered from his pocket, but when the police examined the black envelope kept on the petrol tank, the police recovered one kilo of ganja from the accused. The police took immediate action and registered a case against the accused in the city police station and arrested him. During interrogation, the accused told that he used to work as a laborer while staying at his maternal uncle’s house, but due to his greed for money, he started smuggling ganja by hiding it from his maternal uncle.
