Medical College Vacancy: This is a great opportunity for candidates who are dreaming of getting a job (government job) in AIIMS and these reputed medical colleges of the country. For this, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry told the Lok Sabha on Friday that a total of 90,794 posts are sanctioned for medical colleges across the country. In response to a starred question, the ministry was asked to share the number of posts created in medical colleges on a state and union territory basis.
In response, the ministry clarified that such data is created and managed by the state governments, and not maintained by the central government. The Ministry has shared details of sanctioned posts in Medical Colleges running under Central Government as follows.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi – 14,179 Posts
22 new AIIMS – 46,182 posts under Pradhan Mantri Swasth Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY)
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh (PGIMER) – 9,545 Posts
Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER) – 5,700 Posts
Vardhaman Mahaveer Medical College (VMMC), New Delhi – 7,436 Posts
Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), New Delhi – 3,659 Posts
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS), New Delhi – 181 Posts
North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong – 1,979 Posts

The Ministry also informed that the rules for admission to medical colleges are framed and revised by the concerned bodies from time to time. This process is based on changing needs and administrative requirements.
