DSP Bhulath Karnail Singh said that as part of the campaign being run against drug smugglers, Dhilwan police station’s SHO Ramandeep Kumar and ASI Paramjeet Kumar along with Hi-Tech Naka police had set up a blockade near Dhilwan toll plaza and during this the police team was checking the vehicles. During checking, another car was seen coming from Amritsar side at the toll plaza. In which three youths were traveling. The police team stopped him on suspicion and interrogated him. After interrogation, the police team searched and recovered 700 grams of heroin from their possession.

The three accused have been identified as Gurtej Singh alias Guri, resident of Mohalla Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, Omkar Singh, resident of Kot Badal Khan, Jalandhar and a minor resident of village Kot Badal Khan, Jalandhar. Police have registered an FIR against the three accused under the NDPS Act.
DSP Karnail Singh said that an Arms Act case has already been registered against the main accused Gurtej Singh in Ludhiana. The arrested accused is being interrogated. On the other hand, the minor accused has been sent to the juvenile jail of Hoshiarpur.
