In Kapurthala, the Vigilance team has caught ASI Manjeet Singh posted at Police Station City-2 red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. The accused had already taken a bribe of Rs 1500 to benefit the complainant.

Punjab Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that a case has been registered against the policeman on the complaint of Gurjeet Kaur, a resident of Fattudinga in Kapurthala district. He said that the complainant contacted the Vigilance Bureau and informed that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000. Complainant Gurjeet Kaur told that the accused ASI had earlier taken Rs 1500 to settle the police complaint in his favor.
The spokesperson said that after preliminary investigation of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap. During which the said policeman was caught red-handed while taking bribe money from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. He said that in this regard, a case has been registered against the said accused at Jalandhar Range Police Station of Vigilance Bureau under the Anti-Corruption Act.
