Lakhs of Indians are living in Kuwait, earning big money – News-Patiala Punjabi

PM Modi Kuwait Visit : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Kuwait at the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah. Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi visited Kuwait in 1981. Now after 43 years Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached there. Indians have a significant contribution in the economy of Kuwait. Millions of Indians are working in Kuwait in roles ranging from barbers to doctors.

Every year a large number of Indians travel to Kuwait to work in everything from hospitals to oil wells and factories. There are also many Indians in Kuwait’s infrastructure sector. According to media reports and the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, there are about one million Indians in Kuwait. This figure is said to be 21 percent of the total population of Kuwait. 30 percent of the total workers there are Indians. Most of the Indians living in Kuwait are from South India.

People from these states of India arrived in Kuwait
In the year 2012, an agreement was signed between India and Kuwait in the field of health. Under this, a joint working group for health services was formed. Many meetings have been held in this regard in 12 years. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait believes that most of the Indians living there are from Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Most of these people are working as doctors or nurses in Kuwait’s health sector.

How much do Indians get paid in Kuwait?
According to media reports, unskilled workers from India receive a monthly salary of 100 Kuwaiti dinars (Rs 27,262) in Kuwait. Unskilled workers include labourers, helpers and cleaners etc. At the same time semi-skilled workers work as delivery boys, barbers and security guards in Kuwait. They get a monthly salary of 100 to 170 dinars (Rs. 46560). Skilled Indians work there in technical, mechanical and health sectors. Their monthly salary ranges from 120 to 200 KD (60 thousand rupees).
