Most of the schools of Delhi-NCR CBSE board are of English-medium, in which Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu are taught from the first grade. At the same time, one of the pools of foreign and local languages ​​for 6th class is chosen.

Principals of most schools said that English will be made official medium of instructions because the parents of children want the same.

Hindi can be used informally to teach children of primary classes such as CBSE has been in board schools.

Some principals said that many types of audio and visual mediums are being worked on to teach children different languages ​​because it cannot suddenly be included in the children’s course.

Study will be done through folk tales

The principal of ITL Public School in Dwarka said, ‘We found that 3,000 students have 21 different mother tongues which include Marathi, Oriya and Malayalam. Hindi is the most spoken language, so we will teach children in Hindi and English till the second class.

The school has started an initiative to tell students about different languages. In this, students will be given knowledge of languages ​​through folk tales, folk songs, language trees and charts.

The principal of another school said that they will teach the mother tongue through oral means because it has not been said in the circular that the knowledge of the mother tongue will be tested.

The principal said, ‘Teachers can ask the children what the water will be called in their language. This policy cannot be implemented overnight because the same training of teachers has not been done yet.

CBSE issued instructions on 22 May

On May 22, instructions were issued by the CBSE Board in which the National Curriculum Framework was given a reference. It said that children should have the first language of teaching i.e. R1 should be their mother tongue or regional language.

It further states that if there is a classroom divers, lack of resources or there is no way to write the mother tongue, the state language can be used instead of R1. Children should be taught in R1 until any other language foundational literary children get.

In these instructions, schools were asked to do language mapping. Along with this, there was an order to include these instructions in Karikulum with the end of July.
