Calgary: Arpan Likhari Sabha’s December monthly meeting Dr. It was held in Koso Hall under the chairmanship of Joga Singh Sahota and Kesar Singh Neer. Secretary Jarnail Singh Taggar appealed to the council to support the farmers’ front. He said that the months of November and December are the months of martyrdom for our community. This meeting was dedicated to the martyrdom of four Sahibzadas of Sarbansdani Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Darshan Singh Brar started Kavi Darbar. He narrated the story of Guruji from leaving Anandpur to Khadrana’s Dhab through poetry. Gurmeet Kaur Sarpal presented ideas with reference to Gurbani to remove ‘ego’. Speaking on spirituality, Jaswant Singh Aghiani inspired the audience to read Gurbani with meaning and act upon it. Jasveer Singh Sihota shared his views on Sikh history through poetry.
Dr. Harminderpal Singh performed the song ‘Mata Gujri Ji, Ghodian Lalan Ki Gave’. Dr. Joga Singh Sahota enthralled the audience by reciting Jasveer Singh Sihota’s two poems ‘Hey Akal Purakh Tera Mein Shukr Mana Raha Hain’ and ‘Tere Balihar Sun Kalgi Walya’ with instrumental accompaniment. Kesar Singh Neer presented a poem describing the need to raise voice against oppression from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s family. Satnam Singh presented Karnail Singh Paras’ famous poem ‘Kyun Phadhi Sephai Ne Bhaino Yeh Hansan Di Jodi’ in Kavishiri color.
Principal Baldev Singh Dulat shared the sacrifice of Moti Mehre and Diwan Todar Mall describing the sufferings of Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri from the parting of Sarsa river to the cool tower. Engineer Jir Singh Brar presented his views while offering flowers of devotion to the Sahibzades. Kuldeep Kaur Ghatora also shared her thoughts while praising the sacrifices of the four Sahibzades. Apart from these speakers, Gurmeet Singh Dha, Mahinder Kaur Kalirai, Avtar Kaur Taggar, Pritpal Singh Mallhi and Suba Sekh made notable contributions in this literary discussion.
Secretary Jarnail Singh Taggar paid homage to the martyrdom of the four Sahibzades from the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur and kept the atmosphere reverent with short poetic poems from the stage. Finally Dr. Joga Singh thanked the audience and said that the next meeting of the Sabha will be held on January 11 in Koso Hall.
