Mohali 5 Government schools drinking water contaminated. Children are drinking bad water in 5 schools of Mohali: State Public Health Laboratory report revealed; Chloroform-bacteria found in excess quantity – Chandigarh News


In a report released by the State Public Health Laboratory in Mohali, drinking water of 5 out of 9 government schools in the district has been found unsafe. During investigation, excess of chloroform and bacteria was found in the water, which proved to be hazardous for health.

Samples from these 9 schools of the district were sent to the State Public Health Laboratory located in Kharar. After the report came, the Civil Surgeon has given instructions to improve the quality of water on priority basis.

Asked for information about RO system, water will be tested again

To improve the quality of water in schools, the Public Health Department has sought information from the Education Department about the RO systems installed there. For this, the District Education Department has instructed all the schools to send a Google Form and report the status of the RO system. Orders for re-investigation have also been given. According to the report, samples will be taken again and tested in schools whose water has been found unsafe.

Earlier also 100 samples out of 243 had spread

This is not the first time that flaws have been found in water samples from government schools. Last July also, out of 243 samples in the district, 100 samples had failed. These included Jujhar Nagar, Bad Majra, Boothgarh, and Ghaduan and many other villages.

Civil Surgeon Davinder Kumar has directed that the quality of water in the affected schools should be improved on priority basis. Orders have also been given to conduct regular chlorination and cleanliness campaigns in schools.
