Insurance company’s claim rejected The insurance company claimed that the truck driver did not have a valid driving license and the vehicle documents were incomplete. However, due to lack of sufficient evidence, the tribunal rejected it and directed all the parties to jointly pay compensation.

The family had asked for compensation of Rs 3 crore The deceased’s wife, daughter, mother and blind brother had claimed in the petition that Rajesh Kumar’s monthly income was Rs 1,17,397, which was enough to sustain the family. He had demanded compensation of Rs 3 crore. Keeping in mind the financial and mental crisis of the family, the tribunal fixed a compensation of Rs 1 crore 27 lakh.

what is the matter The incident occurred on March 20, 2024, when Rajesh Kumar was returning from Karnal to Derabassi with his daughter Ritika. The tire of the car got punctured near Dappar Toll Plaza. As soon as Rajesh came out to check the tyres, he was hit by a speeding truck. In the accident, the wheel of the truck ran over his head, due to which he died on the spot.

The truck driver absconded after the incident. Daughter Ritika had registered a complaint with the police by noting down the number of the truck. The police had registered the case and started investigation. Now the tribunal has given relief to the victim’s family and awarded compensation.
