Today, farmer Jagtar Singh son of Variam had to uproot his wheat field due to the attack of the pink borer on the wheat crop. The farmer took thirty acres of land on lease and planted wheat in two acres of his household. Due to the attack of pink borer, the wheat plants are rotting from the root. On the approach of the farmer, Agriculture Department Sub Inspector Avtar Singh and Assistant Technology Manager Lakhwinder Singh visited the affected fields today. Agricultural experts told the farmers gathered in the fields that this disease is more visible in the fields with early sowing of wheat.

According to agricultural experts, this pink weevil thrives in paddy waste and thrives more in hot temperatures. On the other hand, farmers believe that they had to suffer the consequences of harvesting paddy with machines and direct sowing of wheat. Shingara Singh Mann, district president of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugraha, said that the paddy straw is the protective shield of the pink sundi. The farmer leader said that farmers set fire to paddy waste only to avoid such problems. They demanded to give due compensation to the victim farmer.
