Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) at Gidderbaha in District Muktsar, Punjab has achieved a significant milestone with the establishment of its first sub-depot at village Daula, Gidderbaha with the objective of expanding and improving the public transport infrastructure.

Giving information, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that as part of the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government to improve the public transport service, this project costing Rs 3.36 crore will be completed and commissioned by January 31, 2025. He said the project will not only meet the infrastructure needs but will also directly address a long-standing demand of the local people.
85 new buses will be included
Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that apart from this, the old bus stand of Patiala has also been redeveloped, which will now provide bus services to the nearby towns within a radius of 30 kilometers including Cheeka, Samana, Nabha, Rajpura, Ghanaur and Pehowa. Has been started.
The Cabinet Minister said that the Transport Department is going to further expand its fleet and create employment opportunities for the people through the Kilometer Scheme. He informed that a total of 85 new buses will be inducted in the department and letters of intent have already been issued to 81 persons. He said that thus, the commitment of the State Government to provide employment is being realized by empowering local entrepreneurs by creating more self-employment opportunities.
There will be electricity savings of approximately Rs 97 lakh annually
He said that taking an important step towards sustainable infrastructure, a large solar plant project is being finalized by PRTC. The Transport Minister said that under this important solar project, solar equipped facilities will be installed at the headquarters, all depots and bus stands. The Transport Minister said that with the proposed 775 kilowatt solar project costing Rs 2.87 crore, PRTC will save electricity worth about Rs 97 lakh annually. He informed that the estimated period for return of funds of this project will be less than three years.
