In the elections of five Municipal Corporations and 42 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayat held yesterday in Punjab, the ruling party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has managed to get majority only in the election of Municipal Corporation Patiala. In the remaining four, all the parties are behind the majority. Similarly, out of 42 municipal councils and municipal panchayats in Punjab, AAP has won clear majority in 29 and Congress in two. However, no political party got majority in 10 city councils and city panchayats. With the arrival of these election results, the fight has started to make mayors in 4 municipal corporations and presidents in 10 municipal councils and municipal panchayats.
According to the information received from the Election Commission, the results of 53 out of 60 wards of the Patiala Municipal Corporation have been declared, while the election was not held in seven wards on the orders of the High Court. Here AAP has won 43, Congress and BJP 4-4 and Shiromani Akali Dal has won 2 wards. Out of 85 wards in Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, AAP has won 38, Congress 25, BJP 19 and independent candidates have won three wards. Out of 95 wards, AAP has won 41, Congress 30, BJP 19, Shiromani Akali Dal 2 and independent candidates have won in three wards in Ludhiana municipal elections. Similarly, out of 85 wards, Congress has won 40, AAP 24, BJP 9, Shiromani Akali Dal 4 and independent candidates have won 8 wards. Out of 50 wards, Congress has won 22, AAP 12, BJP 4, Shiromani Akali Dal and Bahujan Samaj Party 3 each and independent candidates have won in 6 wards.
In Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections, AAP won Rajasansi, Baba Bakala, Handiyaya, Talwandi Sabo, Amloh, Makhu, Mallawala Khas, Mahilpur, Guraya, Bilga, Bhulath, Machhiwara, Sahnewal, Malot, Sardulgarh, Baghapurana, Fatehgarh Panjtur, Gharuan. , Bariwala, Balachore, Sanur, Ghagga, Has got majority in Ghanoor, Devigarh, Cheema, Munak, Dirba and Khemkaran. Congress has won majority in Shahkot and Mullanpur Dakha. Meanwhile, independent candidates have won more than the majority in Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat Rampura Phool, Bhogpur, Begowal, Dhillwan, Bhikhi, Sangrur and Khanuri. No political party got majority in Narjot Jaimal Singh, Bhadson and Nadala. In these 10 city councils and city panchayats, political parties have started joining hands for the election of president. It may be mentioned that the High Court has stayed the election of 8 out of 13 wards of Dharamkot, while AAP has won in the remaining 5 wards.
