The Punjab State Election Commission has today announced the election program for holding the elections of various Municipal Corporations, Councils and Nagar Panchayats as per the notification of the Local Government Department dated 22/11/2024. In this notification, it has been instructed that the elections to various Municipal Corporations, Councils and Nagar Panchayats should be held by the end of December, 2024.
Addressing the press conference, Punjab State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhary said that along with the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Election Code has been implemented with immediate effect in the jurisdiction of the said Municipal Corporations, which will remain in force until the completion of the election process. . A copy of the Model Code of Conduct has been uploaded on the Commission’s website – sec.punjab.gov.in.
He further informed that the last date of publication of the voter lists of the Municipal Corporations in which the elections are going to be held is on 7.12.2024 and a copy of the same is with the Electoral Registration Officers (SDM) of the concerned Municipal Corporations. and also available at the concerned office.
He further said that out of the total electorate, there are 37,32,636 registered voters, including 19,55,888 men, 17,76,544 women and 204 others, who are under revision on the basis of the special revision made till December 7, 2024.
