New Delhi, December 25
On the occasion of the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a meeting of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders was held at the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda today. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, JD(U) leader and Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh, Apana Dal (S) President and Union Minister Anupriya Patel were present in the meeting. JD(S) leader and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy was also present.
Bihar Hindustani Awam Morcha (S) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president and Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha and Bharat Dharma Jan Sena president Tushar Vallapally were also present in the meeting. There has been no official statement on the agenda of the meeting, but sources said that governance and political issues were discussed in the meeting. Good governance was a major theme of the Vajpayee government.
The decision was taken to hold the coalition meeting on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the veteran BJP leader who successfully ran the coalition government for the first time. Uttar Pradesh Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad said that this was an informal meeting of NDA leaders on the occasion of Vajpayee’s birth centenary. He said, “Our future strategy is to move forward together.” We have to show unity in all upcoming elections. In the meeting, everyone congratulated the BJP leaders for their victory in the Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections. The promises made to the people during the elections should be fulfilled.
