NEET UG exam will be held in pen and paper mode this year also. NTA has issued its notice. The exam will be held on the same day and in the same shift. Last year 23 lakh students appeared. Please note that NTA has not yet announced the exam date.

National Testing Agency (NTA) had released the online notice (bulletin) regarding the exam syllabus on 30 December. No new link has been issued for this, rather the old bulletin link has been redirected.

Questions may also be raised on NTA due to delay in NEET-UG registration. According to a media report, officials associated with the Education Ministry have also expressed concern about this and said – ‘If there is a delay in the examination, it will also be a question on the transparency of NTA. The official asked, how will NTA fix such a situation. This will also raise questions on the agency and its flaws will also come to light.

The registration process should have been completed in November

NEET-UG registrations were usually started in November and the examination was conducted in May. After Covid-19, the registration dates for this exam gradually reached December and this year (2025), even after 15 days of January, no date has been announced yet.

When were the registrations and examinations held from 2019 till now?

  • 2019 : Registrations took place from 1 November 2018 to 1 December 2018. The examination took place on 5 May 2019. The result was declared on 5 June.
  • 2020 : Registrations took place between 15 January 2020 and 31 January 2020. The exam was held on 3 May 2020. Result released on 4 June 2020.
  • 2021 : The registration took place between 13 July to 6 August 2021 and the examination was held on 12 September. This year the examination was delayed due to Covid-19.
  • 2022 : Registrations took place between 6 April and 6 May 2022. The exam was held on 17th July.
  • 2023 : Registrations took place between March 6 and April 6, 2023. The exam was held on 3 May.
  • 2024 : Registrations took place between 9 February and 9 March 2024. The examination was held on May 5 and its result was to be released on June 14. However, it was announced 10 days ago i.e. on 4th July.
  • 2025 : Till now NTA has not announced any date for registration.

NEET UG remained in controversies last year

In the year 2024, NEET UG exam was surrounded by controversies. NTA released the result 10 days before the scheduled date, after which students alleged huge irregularities and paper leaks. After protests across the country, NTA conducted the exam again at the disputed centers and released the new result.
