China Declared Emergency: It is being claimed on Chinese social media that a new virus has struck again. Social media platforms are filled with reports of multiple viruses and epidemics. It is being claimed that a large number of patients are being admitted to Chinese hospitals. According to claims on social media, human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection is increasing in China, which is further increasing health problems.
One user has even claimed that a health emergency has been declared in China due to this virus. However, there is no concrete evidence to support these claims. Chinese health officials and the World Health Organization (WHO) have not made any statement regarding the epidemic or the state of emergency.
Human metapneumovirus increasing in China
Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection is claimed to be increasing in China, which is giving rise to health related problems. According to Financial Express, this virus was discovered in the year 2001. This virus infects people with increasing cold. The National Disease Control and Prevention Administration has started procedures for lab reporting regarding this virus. It has also been told in the report that the infection increased rapidly between 16 and 22 December.
