WhatsApp is bringing a new setting to protect its users from cyber attacks. This will lock many features of the app, so that cyber criminals will not be able to access users’ information. This feature has been spotted in the beta version of Android. With this new feature, the number of messages coming from unknown numbers will also be fixed, so that people will be able to get rid of unwanted and spam messages.
Strict account setting mode will come in WhatsApp
This new feature is being called Strict Account Settings Mode. The company is currently working on this feature and it may take some time to roll out for users. With the introduction of this feature, all the security settings of the app can be applied with a single toggle. With this, users will not have to set different privacy options and settings. By activating this mode, the user’s IP address will be protected and no one will be able to track the user based on location data.
Files coming from unknown people will not be downloaded
After activating the setting in the new feature, files, photos and videos coming from any unknown number will be blocked, which will avoid the risk of malware being installed in the device. The user will be able to receive only text messages from unknown numbers. Apart from this, the company is also considering disabling link preview.
Calls from unknown numbers will be muted
The new feature will also have an option to mute calls coming from unknown numbers so that users can be protected from spam, scams and zero-click attacks etc. Apart from this, information like user’s photo, status and last seen will also not be visible to anyone except contacts. Seen this way, all settings related to privacy and security can be activated with a single toggle.
