Elections will be held in 85 wards of the Municipal Corporation and 30 Municipal Councils and Municipal Panchayats in Amritsar district. The Deputy Commissioner said in a meeting with the officials that according to the election program announced by the Punjab State Election Commission, the nominations can be filled in the offices of the respective Returning Officers from 9 to 12 December (11.00 am to 3.00 pm). The Commission has fixed 13 December 2024 for scrutiny and last date for withdrawal of candidature is 14 December 2024 (up to 3.00 PM).
He said that the voting will be held on 21.12.2024 from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm with EVM machines. After the completion of the voting process, the votes will be counted at the polling station on the same day. He said that a total of 704 booths for 85 wards of Municipal Corporation Amritsar, 14 booths for 13 wards of Nagar Panchayat Rajasansi, 13 wards of Nagar Panchayat Baba Bakala. 13 booths for Nagar Panchayat 2 booths for 2 wards (5 and 7) of Ajnala Nagar Panchayat One booth has been set up for Ward No. 4 of Majitha and one booth for Ward No. 13 of Nagar Panchayat Raya. He said that no nomination was received on the first day of nomination. The Deputy Commissioner informed during the meeting that the nomination form, affidavit and sponsorship form can be downloaded from the Commission’s website and are also available in the office of the concerned Returning Officer.
Phagwara: No nominations were made on the first day
Phagwara: The work of nominations for the municipal elections has started, but on the first day, no candidate has been announced by any political party, nor has any nomination paper been filed on the first day.
