In a smartphone, it all depends on the sensors installed in it. Be it to rotate the video when the phone rotates or to count the steps of the phone lying in the pocket. All this work is possible because of the sensors installed in it. In a way, sensors are what make a phone a smartphone. For information, let us tell you that the phone has not one but many sensors. Today we are going to tell you about these sensors and their work.
accelerometer sensor
This sensor measures the acceleration or rate of change in velocity of an object. As you walk, your steps rise and stop. When a step is taken, there is forward acceleration and it stops as soon as the foot is placed. The accelerometer installed in the phone measures this cycle.
proximity sensor
This sensor monitors the distance between the phone and the face. You must have noticed that when your phone comes near your ear during a call, its display turns off and as soon as you remove it from the ear, the display turns on. This work is done by the proximity sensor.
Gyroscope sensor
This sensor monitors the rotational movement of the phone. For example, when you play a racing game and turn the phone to the left, the car or bike turns to the left. Apart from gaming, this feature is also useful in camera stabilization.
ambient light sensor
It measures the surrounding light. If there is more light around the screen then it increases the brightness so that the user can see the screen clearly. Similarly, it reduces the screen brightness in darkness.
GPS and Barometer Sensor
All the work of GPS is related to location. Be it navigation or tracking, this sensor provides location data through satellite. Talking about barometer sensor, it makes GPS data accurate and is used to detect altitude.
magnetometer sensor
You must have used the compass in your phone. This feature, which has a layout like an old-fashioned compass, tells directions. The digital compass is able to work properly only because of the magnetometer sensor installed in the phone. It also helps in navigation.
fingerprint sensor
This sensor performs biometric authentication to lock or unlock the phone. In many smartphones it is installed below the screen while in some phones it is installed near the power button.
