Despite taking advance time, the state government has taken serious notice of the lack of land registries and the suffering of the people. DCs in the state have been ordered to check the attendance of Tehsildars at the Tehsil office at 9 am. A copy of the order is available with ‘Punjabi News-Patiala’. The order issued under the signature of Anurag Verma, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) of the state said that many sub registrars, joint sub registrars, tehsildars/naib tehsildars do not start registrations on time due to which common people are facing inconvenience. . The DCs were ordered to ensure that the land registries are done at 9 am and the officer whose duty is to do the registrations should not be assigned any other duty. DCs have been ordered to check the attendance of tehsildars at the tehsil office on phone at 9 am. As a criminal case has been registered against the Tehsildar, when he goes to appear, on that day the work remains at a standstill. Sub-Registrar Lakhwinder Singh Gill said that he has the additional charge of Tehsildar and during the law and order situation as acting magistrate duty and returning officer for Dharamkot Municipal Council elections, the problem of delay in doing registrations sometimes arises.
