CBSE News: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is now bringing a major change in the old ways of studying and examining. Under the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE will soon launch a new online platform to assess students’ understanding of subjects and how they can apply that knowledge in real life. It aims to prepare students for 21st century skills.
According to the new policy, exams will no longer be considered a fear or a burden, but a part of learning. For this purpose, CBSE has introduced a new examination system for grades 3, 5 and 8, called SAFAL (Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning). It aims to assess children’s basic understanding, thinking and reasoning abilities. This will help schools understand areas where students need further improvement.
Features of SAFAL (Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning):
-
The assessment will be conducted on an online platform, which ensures quick and accurate results.
-
A diagnostic report will be prepared on the students’ strengths and weaknesses.
-
Schools will be able to improve their teaching methods based on this report.
-
CBSE has already introduced a competency-based assessment framework for classes 6 to 10, with more focus on core subjects like science, mathematics and English.
This initiative is not a one-time change but a major step towards continuous improvement in the quality of education. In future, AI (Artificial Intelligence) will be used to monitor the progress of students and guide them in choosing the right career path. This initiative of CBSE is a modern and practical step that transforms education from rote learning to an understanding process.
