New Delhi, December 9
The Modi government at the Center is preparing to introduce this bill in the current Parliament session under its ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative. Sources said that in this regard, the Cabinet has already approved the report of the Ram Nath Kovind Committee, in which it has been said to hold elections simultaneously across the country. The central government is planning to agree on the bill under which it will be sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for discussion. Apart from this, views will also be sought from the speakers of the Legislative Assembly, intellectuals and other stakeholders and opinions can also be sought from the common people. Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said that the idea of one country-one election is an attack on the Union of India and all its states.
