A Tehsil level special meeting of Kirti Kisan Union was held here at Gurdwara Baba di Kuli. In this, an election meeting was held by protesting against the attempt to give the Ajnala Cooperative Khand Mill Bhala village in private hands. Speaking on this occasion, State Secretary Dhanwant Singh Khataray Kalan said that the only cooperative sugar mill in the border area is in Bhala village, which has become a source of employment for the border farmers and people. Attempts are being made to hand it over to private hands, which will never be tolerated. He said that instead of giving private hands, the government should expand it so that farmers can get out of the crop cycle of wheat and paddy and cultivate sugarcane. On this occasion, while expanding their union, Vijay Shah Dhariwal of Tehsil Ajnala was formed as the president, Jagtar Singh Lakhuwal as the secretary, Karam Singh Sarang Dev as the treasurer and Jasmail Singh as the vice president and a 45 member working committee was formed. Kabal Singh Chhina, Davinder Singh, Bapu Sucha Singh etc. were present on this occasion.
