Mansa, November 4

The Punjab Kisan Union organized a jam in village Ralla on the Mansa-Ludhiana main road against the rush to buy paddy in the procurement centre. After the farmers’ jam, the police got into trouble. Meanwhile, the farmers were warned to remove the slowness regarding the purchase of paddy and start uninterrupted purchase. The jam was opened by the farmers after the police officers and Naib Tehsildar assured to start the bidding of paddy by holding talks with the procurement officers. People breathed a sigh of relief after the jam. This jam was led by the state president of the organization, Gora Singh Bhainibagha.

Addressing the people involved during the jam, the farmer leader said that more than 3000 lots have been sold in the procurement center in Ralla. He said that the sheller owner and the traders are ready to buy, but the official of the procurement agency has been adamant about the purchase, for which despite the explanation from the organization, when no solution came out, they got stuck. He said that the jam has been opened after the police officers and Naib Tehsildar established contact with the purchase officials and assured to buy all the paddy till tomorrow evening. He warned that if all the paddy was not picked up despite the assurance given by the administration, then on December 6 at 12 noon the farmers will gather and announce the next struggle.

Jaspal Singh Ubha, Maghar Singh, Roop Singh Burj Hari, Darshan Singh Ralla, Jagtar Singh, Baljinder Singh, Gurtej Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Avtar Singh were also present on this occasion.
