Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are running out of the T20 team.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced 17 members T20 Squad for the Asia Cup 2025 and the UAE Tri-Series played before that. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have not been included in this team.
The team’s captaincy has been handed over to all -rounder Salman Aga. The tournament will start from 9 September and will be played in UAE till 28 September. Tri-Series Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE will participate.
Babur played T20 match for the last time in December last year Babar Azam last played the T20 International match in December 2024. After this, he played some good innings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, including 56*, 53* and 94 runs innings.
Recently, he scored 47, 0 and 9 in the ODI series against the West Indies. On the other hand, Rizwan was also not included in the recent T20 International Series (in the domestic and West Indies against Bangladesh). He scored 53 runs in the first match in the ODI series against the West Indies, but could only score 16 and 0 runs in the next two matches.
Fakhar Zaman’s return At the same time, Fakhar Zaman has returned to fit. He suffered a hamstring injury on the West Indies tour, but now he has been included in the team for both the Asia Cup and the Tri-Series.
Indo-Pak in the same group India, Pakistan, Oman and UAE are placed in the same group. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong are in Group B. All teams in the group will play 1–1 matches against each other. India will clash with UAE on 10 September, Pakistan on 14 and Oman on 19.
If India and Pakistan made it to the Super-4 stage, then both teams will again face face to face on September 21. The final of the tournament will be played on 28 September. If India and Pakistan topped the Super-4 stage, there may also be a third match between the two in the tournament.
