The ongoing dispute over the Champions Trophy has ended. Pakistan Cricket Board had to bow down to BCCI. The ICC proposed holding the tournament in a hybrid model after India refused to play in Pakistan. Initially, the PCB was steadfast in its stand but when it came to taking away the hosting of the Champions Trophy, it was forced to accept the ICC’s advice. The hybrid model means that the Indian team will not play its match in Pakistan but in another country.
Champions Trophy 2025 (Champions Trophy 2025) is to be held from February 19 to March 9. Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights but will lose hosting of some matches after agreeing to a hybrid model. Pakistan has been chosen to host the tournament as it is the first time since the 1996 ODI World Cup that Pakistan will host an ICC event. The Champions Trophy is making a comeback after 8 years. In such a situation, ICC did not want India to stay out of it.
India will not play in Pakistan
India refused to travel to Pakistan citing security reasons, leaving the future of the tournament uncertain. The ICC convened a meeting in Dubai which was attended by the boards of all the full member countries including PCB and BCCI. After constant refusal, Pakistan finally accepted the proposal to hold the tournament in a hybrid model.
Where will India and Pakistan compete?
After the arrival of the hybrid model, now the Pakistan team will have to play a match against India outside their own country. Most of the Champions Trophy matches will be played in Pakistan, but India’s matches will be played elsewhere. According to reports, India’s matches will be held at the Dubai International Stadium, UAE. will be played in The group stage match between India and Pakistan can be held in Dubai on March 1. This match was to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
