During the Bilga Nagar Panchayat elections today, the Aam Aadmi Party candidates have become councilors without contest due to the rejection of opposition papers in ward number one and three. Balveer Kaur wife Santokh Ram from ward number one and Shweta Rani wife Mandeep Kumar from ward number three have been announced as councillors. It is to be noted that the papers of two candidates have been rejected in these two wards. According to the information released by the Returning Officer, the papers of Beant Kaur and Kulbir Kaur from ward number one have been rejected and the papers of Jaswinder Kaur and Rajmeet Kaur from ward number three have been rejected. No candidate’s papers were rejected from any other ward.

In Nagar Panchayat Shahkot, the papers of the candidates of 2 wards were rejected. Election Returning Officer Chetan Saini and Assistant Election Returning Officer Balkar Singh said that 81 candidates had submitted their nomination papers for 13 wards. In the examination of papers conducted today, the papers of Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Gurbalhar Singh and BJP candidate Rahul from Ward No. 13 have been rejected due to errors found in their papers. He said that till date 79 candidates are in the election field, the papers can be withdrawn on December 14. He said that the election marks will be allotted to the candidates on December 14 and voting will be held on December 21 from 7 am to 4 pm and after that the votes will be counted at the booths. – letter persuasive
