During the promotion of the recently released film ‘The Taj Story’, Paresh Rawal talked about a viral post of his in 2017, which made a lot of headlines at that time. Let us tell you that in 2017, Paresh Rawal had criticized those who questioned the history of Taj Mahal by not considering it as a part of Mughal architecture. He wrote on the social media platform X (then Twitter) that Taj Mahal, which is a symbol of love, has now become a symbol of hatred. He called it a ‘stupid, unnecessary, tragic and disappointing controversy’.
On this, Paresh Rawal while talking to IANS said, “My post was in reaction to the media reports of that time. At that time, it was being claimed in some newspapers and media houses that Taj Mahal is a Hindu monument. I had reacted to this, and also made it clear that my aim is not against any religion or community. I am just against that useless controversy, which only spreads hatred in the society.”

Paresh Rawal further said, “There is no Hindu-Muslim dispute in my film ‘The Taj Story’. The focus of the film is only on history and I have presented it from an unbiased perspective.” He said that if someone asks a question, he is declared communal and if someone answers, he is considered a preacher. This film only highlights aspects related to history and education.

Paresh Rawal said, “We have consulted the education board and historians and tried to find out why we have been taught wrong information. Whatever I said in 2017 and what I am doing now in the film, both are part of my views. For me, it is not a question of personal opinion, but a matter of responsibility towards society and history.”
