Regarding civic elections in Patiala, it has been declared a dry day from today till the end of voting on 21st December. This order has been given by Additional District Magistrate Isha Singal.

He said that during the period of restriction, liquor will not be consumed in any liquor vend (Indian or English), hotels, shops, restaurants, clubs, beer bars, premises where selling and drinking of liquor is legally permitted or in any other public places in the constituency. A complete ban has been imposed on the sale, use, consumption, consumption, storage and use of other intoxicants and it should be strictly enforced.
In the order issued by the Additional District Magistrate, it has been said that the Municipal Corporation Elections-2024 are to be held on 21 December 2024 and the counting of votes is also to be held on 21 December. During these elections, there is a fear of theft and leakage of liquor, which can affect the election work and the law and order situation can deteriorate due to fighting among the people. Therefore, it is necessary to declare prohibition to conduct the elections in a peaceful and transparent manner.
