A Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO) employee serving duty in Central Jail Patiala was running a drug network. Drug dealer Sukhdev Singh was caught by jail officers during checking. After being caught, he was handed over to Tripadi police.

Police registered an FIR against accused Sukhdev Singh of village Mayal Kalan under charges of drug trafficking and violation of jail rules. The police has taken the accused on remand, who is being interrogated. An FIR has been registered against the accused on the statement of Assistant Superintendent of Jail Satnam Singh.

Satnam Singh said that he was sending all the employees on duty inside the jail but before sending them inside the jail, they are checked for duty inside the gate. When the socks of Sukhdev Singh, who was going on routine duty, were searched, he became suspicious. On re-checking, four packets were recovered from his socks. These four packets were made of different sizes and were hidden, as soon as they were recovered, senior officers were called. When the packet was opened in the presence of senior officers, ganja was recovered in it. The accused was taking this ganja to sell inside the jail.
