Patiala Police has arrested the accused who was playing with the future of eligible players in Under-14 wrestling by preparing fake birth certificates of older players and making them compete with younger players.

Patiala SP Dehat Rajesh Chhibbar said that a complaint was received against Brahma Prakash on October 27, 2024 by Inderjit Singh resident of village Siyalu, Tehsil Rajpura. After investigation, case 318(4) 338, 336(3), 340(2) was registered in BNS police station Sadar Patiala. Inspector Gurpreet Singh Bhinder was also present on this occasion.

SP Dehat Rajesh Chhibber said that during the investigation, on December 13, 2024, Brahma Prakash, resident of village Sheikhpura tehsil Gannaur district Sonipat, Haryana, was arrested in the said case. Due to which during interrogation it was revealed that Brahm Prakash’s son was born on 01.09.2006, but the accused prepared a fake birth certificate of his son, in which the date of birth of the boy was written as 01.09.2009 (three years less) and on the basis of the fake certificate, the government got registered. Got admitted in 6th class in Senior Secondary Bahadurgarh. After this, the rights of deserving players were snatched away by making boys play in various under-14 wrestling competitions in Punjab.

There will be an in-depth investigation and who is involved?

SP Chhibber further said that after obtaining police remand of Brahm Prakash, the matter will be investigated in depth and it will be found out who else are involved in this business along with the accused. And which players have played with the future of deserving players of Punjab by playing in sports competitions on the basis of fake birth certificates.

Police appeal to the concerned authority

SP Dehat told the concerned civil authority that, if any such complaint is received, then the players should be allowed to play in the sports competition only after a complete investigation, so that the future of any eligible player is not spoiled.
