In the Narot Jaimal Singh Nagar Panchayat elections held on 21st here, BJP’s only winning councilor Maya Devi joined the Aam Aadmi Party, paving the way for her to become the president of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Nagar Panchayat. It may be mentioned that there are total 11 wards in Nagar Panchayat, out of which according to the results, 5 seats went to Aam Aadmi Party, 5 seats to Congress Party and 1 seat to BJP. With the change of allegiance by the BJP councillor, the whole bet has turned upside down. With this, the position of the Aam Aadmi Party has now become even stronger because the MLA also has 1 vote in the Nagar Panchayat House and the MLA is currently Lal Chand Kataruchak of the Aam Aadmi Party, who is also a Cabinet Minister. In this way Aam Aadmi Party will have a total of 7 votes in the Nagar Panchayat House while the opposition party Congress will have only 5 votes. BJP councilor Maya Devi was inducted into the party by Lal Chand Kataruchak today. On this occasion, the remaining 5 councilors of AAP who won were also present.
Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak assured Maya Devi that she will be given full respect within the party and said that there will be no dearth of funds for development works in Nagar Panchayat Narot Jaimal Singh. Maya Devi said that in the Nagar Panchayat elections held in 2017, she was also a BJP candidate, but the then Congress MLA Joginder Pal defeated her by 2 votes. Because of this, she responded to the push of Joginder Pal and was influenced by the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party. She joined the party.
