SP Harinder Singh had called a press conference to give information about the heroin and smugglers caught in Amritsar. Police caught heroin worth Rs 35 crore
5 kg heroin, a .32 bore revolver and 5 live rounds were recovered as part of an action against drugs and illegal weapons at Ajnala police station in Amritsar district. During checking of a vehicle, police arrested three accused Makhan Singh son of Diya Singh resident of Bhura Kona Khemkaran, Sajjan Singh son of Sewa Singh resident of Kili Nau Aabad Jira, William son of Madi Masih resident of Jodia Khurd Fateh Baba Nanak district Gurdaspur.
Whereas in this case two other accused cousins managed to escape. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of NDPS Act and Arms Act. The police are investigating this matter more deeply so that other members of this illegal network can be caught.
