& nbsp; The world’s new Pope, Pope Leo 14th has revealed himself that he took the help of AI i.e. Artificial Intelligence in choosing his Pope name. In his first formal speech, he said that it is not just a name, but keeping in mind the technical and social challenges today is a thoughtful decision.
Pope Leo 14th, whose real name is Robert Francis Prevost and who belongs to Chicago in America, told that AI analyzed him and suggested many names by analyzing the old documents of history, society and church. Out of these suggestions, he chose the name ‘Leo 14th’ because this name reminds him of ‘Pope Leo 13th’, who took forward the church during the 19th century ‘Industrial Revolution’ for the rights and social justice of the workers.
AI got thinking, name related message
According to a report by India Today, Pope Leo 14th said, ‘I chose Leo 14th because Leo 13th gave a new direction to the church on social issues. Today we are going through a new revolution, AI and digital age. Therefore, with the help of AI, I helped to understand that today’s challenges have to answer with social education and morality.
Help with technology, but also anxiety
While AI helped to choose the name, the Pope also made it clear that AI is a challenge for the society despite being a useful tool. He said that problems like false information, fake pictures, and danger on human dignity are also arising from AI.
He said, ‘AI’s development is like a new revolution, but it is very important to take care of morality and humanity with it.’
Pope Francis’s footsteps
Pope Leo 14th praised his predecessor Pope Francis and said that he would carry forward his balanced view on simplicity, service and technology. Recall that Pope Francis himself has expressed concern about AI himself. In 2023, a fake picture of him went viral on the Internet, in which he was shown wearing a designer jacket. After this, he had talked about maintaining the difference between morality related to AI and ‘truth’.
from ‘Rarem Nawarum’ to ‘AI Yuga’
Pope Leo 14th said in his speech that as the church had helped the workers in the industrial revolution through a letter called Rarem Narum (1891), in the same way, the church will have to protect humanity even in AI era."text-align: justify;"> He said, ‘Even today we need to bring the treasures of social education and moral values to everyone, so that technology is used for the good of humanity.’
