Protest against privatization of electricity department

As a protest against the sale of the electricity department of Chandigarh to a private company, which has been running in profit for the past several years, the residents of the city protested in Sector-37 despite the severe cold and bad weather on the 20th day today. Under the leadership of the leader of the Youth Farmers’ Unity Kirpal Singh, Daler Singh Rajinder Singh and the leader of Kisan Union (Tikait) Sarvesh Yadav. The protest started from Dashmesh Taxi Stand of Sector-37C, went to Main Market, Sector 37-D Market, EWS Colony and ended at Sector 37C Market. On this occasion, Kirpal Singh, the leader of the Young Farmers’ Union, said that with the privatization of the city’s electricity, not only will the electricity rates increase, but the people of Chandigarh will be hit by inflation. Joga Singh, leader of Rural Struggle Committee and Rational Society Chandigarh, said that the government is running away from its duties today, which the people of Chandigarh will not tolerate and will strongly oppose this decision of the government.

Janwadi Mahila Samiti leader Asha Rana said that they will go to colonies and mohallas to sensitize people against privatization and mobilize people against it.

On this occasion, Rajinder Singh, leader of Young Farmers’ Union, Gurdeep Singh Saini from Ardas Foundation, Dinesh Kumar from CITU Chandigarh, Shahnaz Mohammad Gorshi, Ram Aadhar, Advocate Sandeep Raj from Bharati Kisan Union participated.
