In connection with the municipal council elections, various political parties held a protest march against the government and the administration today after the election officials rejected the nomination papers of 23 candidates. The nomination papers of several candidates of Congress, Akali Dal and BJP have been rejected by the election officer, as a protest, leaders and workers of all political parties gathered in front of the historic Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib.

Here, Congress party in-charge from Samrala Constituency Rupinder Singh Raja Gill, Constituency Chief Sevadar Akali Dal Paramjit Singh Dhillon, Congress District President Lakhvir Singh Lakha Payal, BJP District Vice President Bhupinder Singh Cheema and hundreds of party workers against the government and administration. Talking to the media, Congress party in-charge from Samrala Constituency Rupinder Singh Raja Gill and Constituency Chief Sevadar Paramjit Singh Dhillon said that Municipal Council elections have been held 5 times in Machiwara Sahib, but no ruling party has ever made such a push to nominate 23 candidates. Letters are rejected. The said leaders said that there is a huge protest against the government among the people of Machiwara city, for which it will have to bear the consequences. Former Chairman Shakti Anand, District Vice President Kasturi Lal Mintu, District Jathedar Jasmail Singh Bondli, Shiromani Committee Member Harjtinder Singh Pawat, Advocate Jaspreet Singh Kalal Majra, BJP District Vice President Sanjeev Leehal, Rajesh Leehal, Block President Parminder Tiwari were present in this protest. , Davinder Singh Baweja, Tehal Singh Aujla, Jaspal Singh Judge, Advocate Kapil Anand, Jaspreet Singh Sahjo Majra, Amritpal Singh Cheema, Manjit Kumari, Paramjit Pammi, Harchand Singh, Suraj Kumar (all former councillors), Sukhdeep Singh Soni, Sanjay Jain, Comrade Jagdish Roy Bobby, Nand Kishore, Vineet Kumar Jharudi, Pawan Singla, Manjit Makkar were also present.

Election officials disappeared from the office during the protest

When the protest march reached the election officer’s office to protest against the cancellation of nomination papers, no officer was present there. The doors of the office were locked so that no political party leader or worker could enter. The leaders of various political parties protested here for about an hour and raised slogans against the administration and said that they will knock the door of the honorable High Court against this excess. Women also participated in this protest in large numbers.
