Polling for five municipal corporations and 44 municipal councils and municipal panchayats in Punjab will be held on December 21. The State Election Commission gave this information today. According to the commission, all necessary preparations for the municipal elections have been completed.
State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chowdhury told the media here that the polls for five Municipal Corporations and 44 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats will be held on December 21 from 7 am to 4 pm.
He said, “The Election Code will come into force from today.” The five Municipal Corporations of Punjab for which elections are being held include Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Phagwara. Chaudhary said that the process of filing nomination papers will start from December 9 and the last date will be December 12. He said that 37.32 lakh voters can exercise their right to vote in these elections, out of which 17.75 lakh are women. -News-Patiala
