Punjab Holiday- December 21 has been declared a public holiday due to municipal elections in Punjab. This announcement has been made by the Election Commission. The notification states that apart from 5 municipal corporations and 41 municipal councils, some ward-wise by-elections will be held on December 21, 2024.
After this, the Punjab government has also announced a holiday in schools. Due to which a letter has been issued by the Secretary of School Education Department Kamal Kishore Yadav. In which it is written that according to the schedule received by the Punjab Election Commission, where the elections of Municipal Councils and Municipal Corporations are being held, all government, private aided and recognized schools are declared a holiday on December 21.
In the notification issued by the Election Commission, it has been said that apart from 5 municipal corporations and 41 municipal councils, some ward-wise by-elections will be held on 21 December 2024. Due to which the holiday is declared. The notification states that December 21 (Saturday) has been declared a public holiday in all government offices of Punjab under the jurisdiction of municipal bodies under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 where elections are going to be held. Special leave will be given to government employees who are voters of these municipal bodies but are employed elsewhere.
