27 new courses started in Punjab’s ITI
Punjab Government has started 27 new courses in ITI in this session to make the youth employable. During this period, those courses have been started which are in demand in the market. Also, the youth can easily get employment opportunities after doing the course.

These courses include Agro Processing, Baker and Confectioner, Electroplater, Solar Technician and Textile Wet Processing Technician. This time 93 percent seats have been filled due to new courses, while some ITIs have been upgraded.
Contract with Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital
The department has upgraded five government ITIs at Ludhiana, Patiala, Mohali, Sunam and Manakpur Sharif under MPLAD scheme. Additionally the department has signed an agreement for academic collaboration with Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. The objective of this partnership is to provide internship to polytechnic and ITI students in HBCH&RC. 23 Government Industrial Training Institutes have been upgraded under the World Bank assisted project “STIVE”. Rs 12.72 crore has been spent to purchase latest machinery to upgrade the workshops.
Target to have 52 thousand seats
As part of the government’s target to increase the total number of seats to 52000 by 2025, this year Government ITI. 25% seats have been increased. In the current session 2024-25, 93.04% seats have been filled in 137 government ITIs. Dual Skill Training (DST) system has been introduced in Industrial Training Institutes.
