Municipal elections are to be held in Ludhiana, Punjab on 21st December. Today was the last day of nomination. Nominations can be withdrawn till 14th December. Meanwhile, District Election Officer Jitendra Jorwal told on Thursday that the State Election Commission has banned the candidates contesting the Municipal Corporation elections.

Similarly, he said that Rs 3.6 lakh for Municipal Council Category-1, Rs 2.30 lakh for Municipal Council Category-2 and Rs 2 lakh for Municipal Council Category-3. He revealed that the expenditure limit for a candidate contesting elections for Nagar Panchayat has also been notified at Rs 1.40 lakh.
Election Commission deployed 2 observers
Jorwal said that 2 observers have been deployed by the Election Commission. IAS Ramveer, Secretary of Punjab State Agriculture Marketing Board, and IAS Puneet Goyal, Director of Food Civil Supplies, have been appointed.
IAS Ramveer Machhiwada Municipal Council (15 wards), Sahnewal Municipal Council (15 wards), Municipal Council Mullanpur Dakha (13 wards), Nagar Panchayat Malaud (11 wards), Municipal Council Khanna (1 ward) and Municipal Council Samrala (1 ward). Will oversee the elections in the area.
