After being caught by Malerkotla police station along with his accomplice in a case of abetment of suicide in Ludhiana, a fugitive criminal attacked the police team and escaped. The accused along with his father, brother and other associates on RK Road near Cheema Chowk.

Moti Nagar police has registered an FIR and started investigation. The accused has been identified as Saurabh Kumar, resident of Shimlapuri. Police have also registered a case against his father Devi Chand and brother Sonu. His five associates have not been identified yet. FIR has been registered on the statement of Senior Constable Karnail Singh of Police Station City Ahmedgarh.
A case was registered in Malerkotla on 14 December 2021.
Karnail Singh said that accused Saurabh Kumar was wanted in the case of abetment to suicide registered against him on December 14, 2021. Senior constable said that he had received information that the accused was drinking tea on RK Road in Ludhiana. After which he along with head constable Manpreet Singh caught the accused.
Before they could inform their superiors, the accused along with his father, brother and other associates attacked them and fled. After which he immediately informed Ludhiana Police and lodged a complaint. ASI Anil Kumar, who is investigating the case, said that a case has been registered against the accused under sections of BNS. The search for the accused is ongoing.
