Three days after the murder of a cattle trader in Ludhiana, Punjab, Haibowal police has arrested the accused and recovered the weapon used in the crime. On the information of informer, accused Mohit Khanna alias Bagga alias Billa, resident of Laxmi Nagar, Haibowal, was arrested.

Police have also recovered the scooter and sharp weapon used in the murder. According to ACP Gurdev Singh and SHO Madhubala, the accused and victim Mohammad Hanif were earlier business partners who had a dispute over money. Hanif many times did not pay money to Khanna on time. There was an altercation between the two regarding this matter.

The dispute escalated so much that Khanna fatally attacked Hanif with a sharp weapon. This tragic incident came to light on December 9, when Hanif’s wife saw her husband’s dead body in the fields and informed the authorities.

The murder took place on December 8

ACP Gurdev Singh said that investigation has revealed that the murder took place around noon on Sunday, December 8. Hanif’s wife initially thought he had gone to the market with Khanna for work, but she became worried when he did not return and his phone remained switched off.

Hanif’s dead body was found in the fields 3 days ago.

Hanif had taken refuge with Khanna.

Investigation by the police revealed that Hanif had once given shelter to Khanna after he was thrown out of the house by his family. Khanna was living in a room in Hanif’s fields and also helped in farming. However, the relationship turned sour due to a financial dispute, resulting in a brutal murder. A case of murder has been registered against the accused at Haibowal police station.
