To improve sanitation services in Alawalpur town in Jalandhar, Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of sewerage project to be constructed at a cost of Rs 10.61 crore.

Addressing the meeting organized during this period, Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the objective of this project is to make Alawalpur one of the cleanest villages of Punjab. For this, long standing sewerage waste management issues will be resolved.

Designed keeping in mind the population of 10452, the project will include 896 meter long intercepting sewerage line, two MLD sewerage treatment plants (STP), a main pumping station, 100 meter rising line and a screening chamber.
Minister Ravjot Singh said that, the new system will ensure that all waste water is treated at STP and reused for irrigation. Due to which the nearby farmers will benefit and the village pond will become pollution free.
Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that, many projects have been started across the state to raise the standard of living. He said that, there is no dearth of funds for development and Punjab is setting new standards in infrastructure development. This initiative is another milestone in the state’s journey towards sustainable development.
